I was barely into this book when I fell in love with it. I'm not usually one to read - let alone like - autobiographies but this is way different. So without further ado . ..
Title: Seriously, I'm Kidding
Author: Ellen DeGeneres
Rating: PG (Mild references to nudity and sexuality)
Grade: A+
Genres: Autobiography, Humour
Summary: Ellen DeGeneres, a witty and well-loved talk show host, takes on everything from meditation to labels to big words in a witty and relaxing way.
Favourite Quote(s):
"For the record, I find musicals very unrealistic. If I suddenly turned to Portia [de Rossi] and burst into a song about how we're out of orange juice, I don't thik she would just immediately join in. I think she would be very confused and concerned for me."
"Haiku sounds like I'm
Saying hi to someone named
Ku. Hi, Ku. Hello."
"'You're my favourite reader. Ever, of all time. Shhh . . .don't tell the other readers.'"
"The truth is, last June I was driving through a tunnel while I was on the phone with my agent and my cell service was spotty. I said 'I just got a great IKEA table for my breakfast nook.' My agent thought I said, 'I've got a great idea for m newest book' . . . similiarly, a few years ago, I told my agent, "I think I've got some fudge on my lapel." and he thought I said, "I want to be a judge on American Idol.". . . and then I learnt my agent's name was Marvin, not Blarvin.
My Notes: This book is funny, addictive, and interesting. Ellen not only sends you laughing head over heels my head in her outrageous witty and humour, but she also makes a lightbulb flash over your head and go "oh yeah." Ellen is insightful, creative, and funny, and this book is true, sacred, living proof of that.
