Books You Should Read

My friend Mad(s) recently asked me if I had any good book recommendation. This sparked the idea for a new post under the label Recommendation: Book Recommendations. I have three completely different genres in which I will give you a few books under. I tried my best to do books that are pretty unknown. So here we go!

If you like . . . .

  • Book One - City of Bones
  • Book Two - City of Ashes
  • Book Three - City of Glass
  • Book Four - CIty of Fallen Angels
  • Book Five - City of Lost Souls
  • Book Six - Coming Soon!
(Note - There is a second and third series, but they are trilogies. Okay, so these books are pretty well known. But they're really good!)

If you like . . .

Dystopias

you should read . . .

Divergent (series) - Veronica Roth

  • Book One - Divergent

  • Book Three - Coming soon!
(Again, not exactly unknown. But the best. Books. Ever.)

Uglies (series) - Scott Westerfeld
  • Book One - Uglies
  • Book Two - Pretties
  • Book Three - Specials
  • Book Four - Extras
(I thought these books were okay, but I know a lot of people who would like them, so yeah.)

Anyway, next up, we've got the first . . . everything.

Here was the first post:

The Winter Holidays

It's  . . . Saara! Time to blog - haven't done it in a LOOOOOOONG time! Anyway, today I will blog about the Winter Holidays - the top six things about it! So . . .

1. The first thing that comes to everyones mind - NO SCHOOL! WAHOOOOOOO!!!! Well, also no math, which is good because I really hate math. And along with no school, no homework, which means i get free weekdays to watch all the TV I like.

2. The second thing that comes to everyone's mind - CHRISTMAS! Which means PRESENTS! And CAROLS! And a whole bunch of other stuff, however it would take me into my 20's to list all of it.

3. SNOW! I love to play in it. Rolling around in it is so cold and so fun at the same time! I remember how I always try to build a snowman but end up, well, let's just say not doing a very good job. Oh, and last year i tried ot build a snow fort, but i couldn't even get inside it. :(  Sad story. But I still love the snow, oh yeah, AND the christmas carol :) . Happy story.

4. RELAXATION! No one rushing to get out of or in to bed. plus you can do whatever you want, and learn to love sleep along the way. (However I only learn to love sleep when I'm sick, and when i'm not - "OH, you're going DOWN sleep!")  This leads me to my next one . . .

5. TELEVISION! Well, mostly because during the Winter Holidays, there are ALWAYS good christmas specials, which my friends and I LOVE to watch! Also - this ties along with television - there are brand new christmas movies out, and they tend to be simply the funniest movie EVER!

6. SALES IN THE STORES! It's shopping time! During the Winter Holidays, there are always sales, which means more shopping! :)

Can't wait to write next time! See ya!

Movie Anticipation - Rise of the Guardians

The movie Rise of the Guardians hits theatres November 21, 2012. That isn't exactly an eon away, so I decided to give you a prediction of what I really think Rise of the Guardians is.

A failure. A total failure.

I hate to pull a Simon Cowell here, but *high pitched nasal voice* honest is the best policy. (I can see you rolling your eyes!!!). The first time I noticed this when I saw in the trailer "From the makers of How to Train Your Dragon." That movie was just a waste of my time - it had no meaning, no sense of direction, and now, even with objections from Sam, I don't want to look at the book. All that flashed through my mind as soon as I saw those nine simple words.

The jokes pathetic, the message a downfall, and the characters not well built. And while it can exciting at some parts, it's more "exploding toy factory" exciting then "fantasy heroes gonna save the world" exciting. And honestly, I expected the tooth fairy to be a little more seductive, Santa a little more supporting, etc. In my mind Sandy is not a clumsy nitwit, rather an excuse to make the film longer. Of course, I'm only reviewing the trailer here. Hopefully the movie is a bit more exciting . . . . But honestly, the chances aren't high.
